Research

San Diego Blood Bank has a Research Product Services (RPS) department. Donors consent to use blood and blood components for transfusion and non-transfusion purposes such as use in quality control, as reference standards, to improve methods for processing blood, for clinical manufacturing and manufacturing process development. Blood components used for non-transfusion purposes assist in meeting the unique research and development needs in both academia and industry.

Both Allogenic and Deferred donors may participate in these types of collections.
